Connecting a Curtis 1209/1221/1231 motor driver
WARNING: SHOCK OR DAMAGE DANGERThe Curtis 1209/1221/1231 motor controllers do not provide isolation between the high voltage battery and the low voltage circuits. Wiring diagram The "Discharge OK +" output powers the motor controller. Should the BMS decide that the battery is not able to drive the load, it will open that output, shutting down the motor controller. The "Throttle reduce" outputs nromally do not affect the throttle. Should the BMS decide that the battery is nearly empty, it will srat shunting the throttle, reducing the available motor drive. The resulting sluggishness warns the driver, and prevents high current draw, which would sag the battery voltage.
